#Time and #Ethics

INTRODUCTORY NOTE: A hypothesis is presented here as a succinct phenomenological analysis on clinical observations by this author. It is not intended, however, within the modest limits of this short paper, as linked to any well-defined psychopathological condition.

Our personal perception of time passage speed, that is, of the duration of phenomena and intervals, conditions our ability to capture the links between causes and effects.
Whoever has difficulty assessing the length of time periods can only have a limited understanding of what might be the causal nexuses in the world of things, which results certainly in limitations to their ability to measure the consequences of their actions.
Causal bindings may be taught to them by others, perhaps even well memorized by them, but never incorporated with the force of a genuine experience, able to achieve the maximum fullness that would result from a direct personal capture. Thus, no matter how much they learn from these lessons about worldly data, their cognitive and affective social interaction will be marked by an insufficient understanding of any basic notions on personal responsibility or on guilt, and consequently and remarkably by a limited understanding of such essential pillars of the human condition, i.e., the concepts of freedom and servitude.
The concepts of cause, consequence, responsibility and guilt will remain alien to the core of your personality structure, since they are external to the Self.
