'The Last Owl's Main Thread

How to finish off sleeplessness when counting sheep no longer works? A journalist not being able to take out from mind so many pictures of Nature's widespread destruction, nor of the various miseries and horrors faced by mankind, is trying hard to fall asleep. Despite this, and while being quite alone in his empty bedroom on a winter night, yet overflowing with desire, he begins to remember past love affairs, with their so many delights, but which led to so hurtful frustrations too, until the moment in which he finally makes up a perhaps infallible tactic to fall asleep.

His last thoughts before choosing this new sleeping game:
"Living plunged in a world taken to be the only real, human beings disdain those people who confuse dreams with the concreteness of full vigil life, calling them 'mad'! Nonetheless, paradoxically we all love the works of art, which suspend that 'so obvious' difference between reality and unreality".
