It is the external world that imposes a duration upon the orgasm, compelling the subject to abandon contact with the timeless experience of *jouissance*—the only human contact with Eternity. The experience of the present resumes, bringing a return to the masks of the 'Self' and a re-engagement with the cycle of desire, frustration, anguish, hatred, and war.

The 'Self' and the present serve as the stage for the clash between the Will to Power (Nietzsche) and the external world. There follow frustration, anguish, struggle, and the intensification of desire—a quest for another with whom we might once again set out in search of the "Eternity" experienced in orgasm. Parallel sequences also unfold—frustration, hatred, struggle, defeat, and death or enslavement—with infinite nuances lying between success and failure.
